Moms Encouraging Moms

October 13, 2017

Hello moms!

Fear not!

We have not forgotten Moms Encouraging Moms this year! (Thank you to the people who have asked me if it is happening and when it’s happening and been an encouragement to me personally! I am glad to know that others find our time together valuable!) We wanted to make sure you had enough notice before the first meeting, and just for fun we are doing something a little different in November so wanted you to have all those details as well!
What is Moms Encouraging Moms or MEM for short? It is a monthly support group for homeschooling moms and those considering homeschooling. It is a time to get to know some other moms who are in this with you, and to be encouraged by the word of God in our high calling as moms and wives. All Moms are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mark your calendars for

Monday October 23, Charity Mile’s- 67 Windfield Road

We’ll talk about the crazy start to the school year and how we are not immune to it as homeschoolers! How to find Joy and Peace in the midst of busy-ness.

Tuesday November 14 – Paint night at the ROC church on South Albert Street

Tickets will be $15 each and dessert and supplies will be provided! Buy your ticket and get more info at mom’s encouraging moms October! You will have to buy your tickets in advance so we are sure we have enough interest to go-ahead and so we can get supplies! If you are not able to be at MEM in October you can buy your ticket by emailing me or Amy Johnson. Our own Julie Geiger will be leading us through creating our own Christmas themed masterpiece! It is sure to be a fun evening.

Thanks for your patience
I am looking forward to seeing new faces as well as past friends!
(if you are interested in hosting one night, please let me know!)

– Charity

Hello ARCHE Families!  I hope you have had an enjoyable summer!

There will be a 6 week fall gymnastics session starting in November at A-Mazing Adventure, 210 Leonard St. in Regina.  The dates will be Wednesdays, November 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th and December 6th.  For this session, there will be 2 classes at 1-2 pm, 2 classes at 2-3 pm and 2 classes at 3-4 pm.  Each class will have space for a maximum of 10 kids, so we have space for 60 kids in this session.   The 3-4 pm class will have a preteen/teen  class.  The other time slots will be broken down into age groups for 4 to 11 year olds.  The cost for the 6 week session is $45.40.   The fee for the kids to play on the play structure before and after the booking will be $3.00. They will charge $3.50 for any siblings that are not participating in the booking to play in the play structure, these costs are NOT INCLUDED in the registration fees, and need to be paid to the facility.    Registration will be the week of  September 18th – 27th.  Contact Sheri Mead :  if you have any questions.  Thanks!

ARCHE Skating

This ice time is booked for home educators and we have full use of the ice surface and a dressing room during each session.

As always, parental supervision of your own children is required and you are responsible for the conduct and the safety your children.

Any children learning to skate or playing “stick and puck” are required to wear helmets. Skates, helmets and other equipment can be borrowed from the Sport Venture Library or purchased used from Sports Exchange.

It's a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water.

If you have any questions, contact Sherry.

ARCHE Swimming

ARCHE Swimming Lessons used to be organized at a discount through the City of Regina. The last couple years, those discounts were not available, so they were organized through the North Regina YMCA (5939 Rochdale Blvd), using their instructors and their facilities. The cost has been between $60-$75, depending on level and whether you are a YMCA member, but there has basically been no ARCHE member discount.

Here are the levels/divisions we used:

Lil'Dippers Ages 3-5: Bobbers, floaters, gliders, divers, surfers, dippers
Learn to swim Ages 6+: Otter, Seal, Dolphin and Swimmer
Star 1,2,3,4 Ages 6+: To start in star you must have completed Swimmer or the equivalent levels.
Star 5,6,7 Ages 6+: To start in star you must have completed Swimmer or the equivalent levels.

Swimming lessons

October 17, 2017

Thanks to all that have replied to my inquiry about whether there is interest in daytime swimming lessons at the Y. I just have another question!

It looks like Tuesday afternoons would be pretty limited time available, so they have offered us a bit more time on Monday mornings.

I am just hoping those who would be interested in swimming lessons on Monday mornings can please e-mail me.

Charity Mile

P.S. If you have a Y membership, these lessons would not qualify as your free lessons, they are booked separately as a private booking, so we would all have to pay. It has been significantly less money in the past however. Also these lessons would be at the Y on Rochdale Blvd. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Swimming lessons at the Y

September 22, 2017

Hello ARCHE families!

I was contacted by the Y to see if we would like to do swimming lessons this year! My kiddos need to, and it’s looking like Tuesday afternoons will work best – from possibly October 17 – November 20 or 27? If you are interested in this please fill out the form attached and email it back to me at This will be at the Y on Rochdale. I need to gauge if there is enough interest and at what levels. I would get back to you with registration information and exact times in a week to 10 days.

Let me know if you have questions,

Charity Mile

Field Trips

Field Trips have been organized to fire halls, police stations, Regina City Hall, the Saskatchewan Legislature, the Regina Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment plant, the City of Regina Landfill, and various other facilities.

As always, parental supervision of your own children is required and you are responsible for the conduct and the safety your children. It is very important that you read and understand ARCHE Etiquette.

“We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit."
- Numbers 13:27

There is currently no overall Field Trip coordinator for ARCHE (perhaps you would do it?). If you organize a field trip, please let us know so we can post it here.

ARCHE Afternoon Activities (AAA)

Our theme for the Winter 2017 6 week session is "All Nations - Countries and Cultures”. Each of the classes will be based around a different country every week, with each age group having a gym/active class, a creative/art class and a foods/snack class.

There will be a coffee corner available for moms during their free class. A nursery room will be available for those with babies. The age groups will start with 4 year olds and go up to teens.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
