SHBE is our provincial representative and advocate. One area of focus has been the distinct challenges that parents face when it comes to intensive needs. This mini-convention is designed to connect families with each other and with other parents and professionals who can help.
The speaker this year will be Faith Berens. Faith joined the US HSLDA team of Special Needs Consultants in 2008 and now homeschools her own two children. She also works as a private educational consultant, evaluator, and tutor. Her passions include reading for pleasure, singing, traveling, nature/science, leading Bible studies, and teaching reading to primary age children. Her areas of expertise are early childhood literacy, reading assessment, and the identification and remediation of reading difficulties.
The mini-convention will be held in Saskatoon in the third week of October. More details will be available shortly.
In addition to this mini-convention, the annual SHBE convention will be held in Regina at Evraz Queensbury Convention Centre February 24 and 25. 2017.
