FW: Cooking Around the World

Reminder for SchoolHaus Around the World cooking class registration. Please hurry to register if you are interested. This Friday is the deadline.

 

 

 

Hello Everyone,

 

Just a reminder that the deadline for registering for the SchoolHaus Around the World cooking class is this Friday, October 15. Current registration is at 5 students and we need a minimum of 8 to run! Also, there is interest in running a morning class, so if a morning time would work better for you, please send me your information and I will try to set that up.

 

Here are all of the details again:

 

What: Around the World Cuisine Themes: East Indian, Mexican, Asian, North American, Italian, French

Who is this class for: ages 10-14 (the class needs a minimum of 8 to run and will cap at 12 students)

When: Once a month for six classes, Mondays from 1-3:30

Monday, October 21st

Monday, November 18th

Monday, December 16th

Monday, January 20th

Monday, February 24th

Monday, March 16th

Where: Schoolhaus Culinary Arts, 2171 B Lorne St

How to Register: call 306-543-2665 and they will email you a registration form

Cost: $61.05 incl. tax/class for the first class, and $55.50 incl. tax for the remaining 5 classes, payable monthly

 

Other notes:

• The minimum requirement for the class needs to be met by Friday, October 18

• The first class is an extra $5 to accommodate our request for monthly billing and is a very reasonable processing fee

• Parents will be required to sign an enrollment contract at the time of registration to confirm their commitment for the six classes

• One chef and one assistant chef will be on hand at every class

• The school can accommodate special dietary needs – please inform of them at the time of registration. SchoolHaus is not a nut-free facility

• The school does not use boxed or prepackaged foods – the focus is on raw ingredients and learning the skills to make things from scratch

• The series will include kitchen awareness, etiquette and safety skills

• The kids are grouped into small groups of a maximum of four per station. They will make 2-3 themed items per class to share and eat after.

• The chefs ensure that tasks are rotated with each dish so there is equal opportunity to learn the different skills

• Parents are welcome to stay and assist or drop off, however, due to safety/space limitations, parents with additional children would be welcome to wait in the cafe

• This is a pilot class. If registration capacity is reached, a wait list will be started and additional classes can be organized

• Here is a sample menu of what the kids might cook:

 

East Indian:

• Vegetable Samosa with cilantro dip

• Butter chicken with basmati rice

• Mango coconut ice cream

 

Mexican:

• Chicken flautas

• Mexican chopped salad

• Churros with chocolate sauce

 

Chinese:

• Ginger beef lettuce wraps

• Egg rolls

• Veggie chow mein noodles

 

North American:

• Pulled pork poutine

• Beef sliders

• Apple pie bars

 

Italian:

• Spaghetti with mozzarella-stuffed meatballs and tomato sauce

• Individual pizzas with handmade dough

• Chocolate hazelnut Tiramisu

 

French:

• Potato-leek soup

• Croque Monsieur

• Raspberry pan au chocolate with homemade quick raspberry jam
