A program that may be of interest to some families. It would be great to have a parent take charge of this. Please let us know if you are interested or need further information...
Sent by the Regina Symphony Orchestra:
We have a program called Link Up that we think may be of interest to homeschooling families. I have included some information below.
The Regina Symphony as part of its Education and Outreach programs is pleased to present in its third year of Link Up. Link Up is an integrated music experience for Grades 3-6 students in Regina and southern Saskatchewan where students have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning in their music classes throughout the winter semester culminating in an interactive concert at the Conexus Arts Centre with the RSO.
Over 2500 students and teachers from Regina and southern Saskatchewan have participated in the program in the first three years. In 2018-19, we are presenting The Orchestra Swings. With Link Up we present a Professional Development plus a musician instructor school visit as well as phone call. Each Link Up program has a specific repertoire and teachers can choose different streams from beginning to advanced level. The idea being that students will learn certain pieces to play on recorder that they will play with the orchestra at the concert. Link Up is a program through the Carnegie Hall Weill’s Institute provides teachers and students with resource materials.
If you know of any home school families who would be interested in learning more about Link Up and would like to be part of this, I would be happy to give more information. We are offering 2 professional development days this year, Thursday, October 4th and Friday, October 26th, 2018. Both are from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. The Link Up Concert will be held at the Conexus Arts Centre on Friday May 3rd, 2019.
