Saskatchewan Debate Workshop and Information

Please see the following about a speech and debate workshop to be held at Luther college on September 14th. Please also take a look at the information about setting up a debate club for homeschool students:

The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association (SEDA) is a non-profit organization that helps children and youth grades five to twelve be effective communicators, deep thinkers, and engaged community members. We provide workshops, training, and resources to both teachers/coaches and students. Debate clubs offer an environment for students to develop skills such as critical thinking, supporting and critiquing ideas from multiple perspectives, public speaking, and understanding the value and power of words. SEDA hosts debate tournaments throughout the school year where students have an opportunity to compete, showcase their skills, and create community with like-minded students, teachers and volunteers.

SEDA is hosting a Speech and Debate Workshop on September 14th at Luther College in Regina. It will be run by accomplished debater Leora Diakuw, and current Team Canada coach Jasion Xiao! We know it is short notice, but would you be able to advertise it or circulate it to your students, teachers, or parents?

Please email for the event notice to post!

Students don’t need any previous speech or debate experience to participate.

To learn more about SEDA, our dedication to education, and the benefits of debate clubs, please visit our website: or go directly to our teacher resources here:

If you would like more information on starting a debate club within your homeschooling network, please reach out to us at We can provide a workshop on how to start and run a debate club. We would also put you in contact with the women who organizes the debate club for the Saskatoon homeschool debate club.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
